I moved across the United States from the Bay Area in California to New York City five and half years ago with the intention of getting to the center of the audition world in America, and closer to Europe, hoping to eventually make a move there.  While in New York, I have had quite a range of experiences, all contributing to the artist and person that I am now.  I crossed over from singing soprano repertoire into mezzo-soprano about two years ago.  It has been a struggle after switching fachs to “re-brand” myself to get auditions and work.  I have been extremely blessed to have the support of a few instrumental people who believe in me and my work, and have helped me to stay active in the concert world.

I now have a fantastic opportunity in front of me:  to cross the Atlantic to perform Carmen, one of the most iconic roles in the operatic repertoire.  I will be performing this at the festival with Music Academy International that takes place in Trentino, Italy. During the four week long festival, I will be coaching and staging the role with some of the best in the business, culminating in a performance with orchestra.  This would be a huge boon to my resume, as well as to my network.  True to its name, it is an international program with faculty and participants from all over the world.  My hope is that going to Italy this summer to sing Carmen will help facilitate a more permanent crossing over into the operatic community in Europe within the next year.
