About The Artist

Brittany Trinite

Brittany Trinité is a musician and graduate of Southwestern University from Round Rock, TX. This summer, Brittany will sing the role of Mrs. McLean in Susannah and will cover the role of the Witch in Hansel and Gretel with Red River Lyric Opera in Wichita Falls, TX. She has been accepted to the music therapy distance learning program at St. Mary of the Woods and will begin coursework there in the near future. Brittany teaches singing and is a music therapy advocate in Round Rock and Austin ISD, performs with local groups like the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Austin, and studies classical voice.

"Music Smiles" is a concert to benefit the American Music Therapy Association featuring local artists performing songs that bring joy and inspire smiles. The concert will be held at the chapel of First United Methodist Church at 1201 Lavaca in Austin, TX at 7pm on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Tickets are available for purchase by donation through BELTA and at the door on May 2 for $10 for adults and $7 for students and military.

Proceeds will benefit the artists and the American Music Therapy Association! The goal for this project is $2,000 with the first $1,000 to cover production costs and the second $1,000 to donate to the American Music Therapy Association, in addition to concert proceeds and donations. Donations are tax deductible as long as they are motivated by donative intent.

Music therapy, according to the American Music Therapy Association, is "an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals." People of all ages can benefit from music therapy as a treatment in many settings involving participating in making and listening to music. "Music Smiles" serves multiple purposes: to raise awareness of music therapy, educate, and also to provide an opportunity to musicians in the Austin area to have a professional performing engagement and work with other local musicians in that experience.

The concert is open to performers of all styles to participate in, as long as pieces performed are those that fit the theme of inspiring joy and making people smile. It is always fun to see everyone's different ideas come to life, since that is communicated through all kinds of music! For more information, please contact Brittany Trinité, producer and director of "Music Smiles" at (512)924-3672 or [email protected].
